The wine harvest in South Africa takes place in March because it is the end of summer and the beginning of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. This timing allows the grapes to fully ripen and develop their flavors before being harvested. Additionally, the cooler temperatures in March help to preserve the grapes' acidity and freshness, resulting in higher quality wine. Harvesting in March also allows winemakers to avoid the rainy season, reducing the risk of mold and other diseases affecting the grapes. **

A harvest helper during the grape harvest is responsible for assisting with picking grapes from the vines, sorting and removing any damaged or unripe grapes, and transferring the harvested grapes to collection bins or crates. They may also help with loading and unloading equipment, cleaning and maintaining tools, and ensuring a smooth and efficient harvest process. Additionally, harvest helpers may be involved in other tasks such as operating machinery, monitoring grape quality, and providing general support to the harvest team. **

They are responsible for operating machinery to harvest the corn, as well as manually picking and gathering the crops. It can be physically demanding work, but also rewarding to see the results of their labor as the corn is collected and prepared for distribution. **
